GOD OF OUR CITY

I shared with a couple of our students and leaders recently that as I drive around, I've been playing "God of This City" over and over again. Then came the question, "when you say we're going to sing this song every service, what do you mean?" My response: "I mean we're going to sing the song every service."

As I've been driving around Springfield and worshipping with this song, I've found myself praying for the city and the people. It's an amazing thing that happens as you begin to turn your worship and prayers into faces and places.

When I finished up my morning study and was headed to the Lunch Bunch, here is the preview of what I meant.




As we look to tonight, God has something great that is coming to theBURN. Stay tuned if you happen to miss it, because this will rock our world. See you soon.

CHAIRS, CHAIRS AND MORE CHAIRS

Special thanks to Buz and his help with the army of chairs that we now have occupying our game area. What started out as five has quickly turned to 15. This is why Buz is the man. Make sure to send your thanks along next time you see him. See you tomorrow night! It's going to be unreal!

GOD THIS CITY

As I shared last night, in the coming months, the song "God of This City" will function as an anthem for what we believe God is doing in our city, the expression of the mission of our church and the vision God gave to Pastor Gary which brought him to Springfield to start Hope Community Church. No doubt this song speaks to each of us as we can rally around the fact that God has more to do here in Springfield. The song has gained a lot of momentum as Chris Tomlin has done a cover of the song which appeared on his, and the always popular Passion albums. The song, originally however, is written by the group Bluetree and the background of the song was especially touching to me the first time I heard of this. May this inspire worship and God's work through YOU in our town.

70's Roller Skating Night

We're getting super excited for this Sunday around here.
It's going to be a night that you don't want to miss!

I figured it might be good to toss out a few examples of what 70's wear looked like in the roller skating scene....

it involved:
a good pair of tube socks!

some shorts...but not too short! :)

a tank top

and a good ol crazy track jacket

Put it together and what do you get?

Surprisingly enough this look is pretty much the same for guys.

I believe that rather than shorts you get to sport the awesome bell bottom pants!

So, I hope that helps a little and that all of you are able to make it out on Sunday for our 70's Roller Skating night at Skateport from 6-8pm!

We're having the After Party TONIGHT!!!!!

I'm super excited about this one because it's so much fun!
We're going to Founder's Park around 7:30pm to watch Igor!
It actually will start around 8pm, but we want to make sure we get a good spot. So, bring your blankets or bring your chairs because we're going to enjoy this beautiful weather with a non drive in, drive in!
The cost is $5 at the door if we run out of tickets. Otherwise it will be free and your ticket will be waiting for you when you get there, if you're there early.

NEW LAW BANS TEXTING BY DRIVING TEENS

Watch out students, the man is coming for you now. Check it out: http://tinyurl.com/n5y3p8.This is for anyone under 21 so it's not just for teenagers but it will affect you all a TON. It's a great law to have. This would be an interesting time to point to crazy stories, but what do you think?
